With
the price of fuel rapidly increasing and CO2 levels
rising, today’s energy supply is becoming even more
critical. However, there is one new technology that
will make a positive impact within the UK energy
market.
Solar
Photovoltaics, or Solar PV, is fast becoming a way
to reduce carbon emissions. This is a natural
progression of the electrical market and is
something that all electrical engineers and
installers should consider as a service to offer
clients.
This Solar PV installation course introduces common
UK Photo Voltaic systems and covers the following
topic areas:
- Background to the market and Grant and
Funding routes (including MCS)
- Regulations and Standards
- Health & Safety considerations
- DC & DC theory
- Cell types and benefits
- External and internal site survey
requirements
- Circuit design
- System design and integration
- Setting to work and commissioning
- Servicing and fault finding
The
solar course is not intended to cover roof access
work in detail however, the nature of the
installation will require electrical connections on
roofs, therefore the course includes legislative
requirements and risk assessments for working at
height. Wherever practicable we recommend the use of
experienced roofers to install the arrays. Those who
do the course should be comfortable and experienced
with working at height.
This solar PV installation training course is aimed
at qualified electricians who are looking to
increase their foundation skills and knowledge.
Completing this course will enable electricians to
install Solar Photovoltaic systems. Candidates
should have experience in electrical testing to 17th
edition (BS7671 standards).
Candidates must have current experience as an
electrician and have good recent electrical
experience in the design and installation of
domestic single phase circuits. Relevant
qualifications and knowledge of the 17th Edition
wiring and building regulations is essential for any
candidate enrolling on this course. Candidates who
have completed a NVQ Level 3 or a full scope Part P
qualification with experience may find this course
suitable, although those without the qualification
but sufficient experience will also be considered.
Assessment on this
course will include a multiple choice examination
and practical assessment using a demonstration Solar
PV system.
This course is three
days in length and is available at training centres
throughout the UK. Please see below for training
venues.
